Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles are available in a variety of layout styles and sizes. It is up to you to choose one that will suit your need for passenger capacity. While some accessible vehicles are modified with interchangeable seat options, for ease of allowing the caretaker or companion to drive as well, most are completely based around only one wheelchair bound passenger, normally seated to the rear of the vehicle. It is also possible for disabled vehicles to be modified to allow the wheelchair bound person to drive. Most may have additional seating behind the front seats, but these models may cost a bit more. Many models have very narrow extra eating, roper only for short trips for adults or children. Look over model carefully, and if a child is going to be secured into one of the additional seats, be sure to do this when test driving. adapted converted wheelchair accessibles all provide enough room for at least one extra passenger in addition to the driver and the wheelchair bound person. A prime advantage for some models may be rear foldable seats, allowing for ease of access to the vehicle, and ease of use if there are going to be additional passengers.

All WAVs will be outfitted with lifts or ramps, depending on the size of the vehicle, and will provide access from the back or side of the vehicle. The circumstances of where and how you will need access to the vehicle need to be considered for ease of access.
